That Boutique-y Advent Calendar 2020
Macduff 10 Year Old – Batch 10 – 52% vol.
On the 2nd day of Christmas Boutique-y gave to me…a sample from a distillery near me!!
I was sent this Boutique-y Whisky Company Advent Calendar in order to sample its delights, and to reveal my thoughts to you dear reader!! Will they all delight my palate? Time will certainly tell.

So, day 2 is from Macduff, and it’s a 10 Year Old – Batch 10 – 52% vol.

The label shows “deleted scenes from the play on the label of our Macduff bottling. Press the stopper down to hear the director’s commentary from Shakespeare himself (probably a lie.)” say the good folks at That Boutique-y Whisky Company. Artwork as ever by the very talented Emily Chappell.
Macduff is a town in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It is situated on Banff Bay close to Banff, across the estuary of the River Deveron. I was there but a few weeks ago, and it was blinking freezing, but a good bracing sea air never hurt anyone… I could have done with a little something to heat me up.
On the nose, there was a sharp estery hint initially, a tiny hint of sweeties (parma violets (briefly)), a little malty note too, and it’s floral and vanilla sweet. There is apple in there with a little ginger spice nipping the senses.
On the palate, it is a little peppery, but the vanilla is plentiful, apple and a little ginger again. A little kick of heat, and ever so slightly drying. The finish is gentle with vanilla remaining.
The advent calendars were available from Master of Malt plenty of delicious Boutique-y Whisky to tempt your palate too!!
