A little, well perhaps more than a little while back I was sent a sample of the Rampur Double Cask Single Malt Whisky to try. And well, I’ve just had a chance to sit down and give it my attention…about blinking time eh Smoggy?
Rampur is a relatively new whisky for me…and despite how long it’s been sat waiting, I’ve been looking forward to sampling this. To learn more about Rampur then click here
This sample came in a lovely little bag, would it be a little treat, the whisky is the double cask single malt, matured in American bourbon barrels and European Oak Sherry casks, it’s 45% abv.
The nose delivers sweet brown sugar, honey, banana and tropical fruit, lovely woody notes. Spices too.
Though to me, the palate feels just a little thin, it packs a spicy punch. Vanilla mingles with spices…red berries, and it’s warming.
The finish is long, spicy woody notes linger…with those dark fruity flavours.
Thanks to Rampur and MPR Communications for the opportunity to try this.
