Walsh Whiskey Tweet Tasting 2019
I recently had the pleasure of taking part in the Walsh Whiskey tweet tasting, we would be delving head first in to the delights of the following:
Whiskey no.1 – Writers Tears Double Oak – 46% abv
Whiskey no.2 – The Irishman 12 Year Old Single Malt – 43% abv
Whiskey no.3 – The Irishman Single Malt Marsala Cask Finish (Dublin Airport exclusive) – 46% abv
Whiskey no.4 – Writers Tears Cask Strength 2019 – 53% abv
I have to say, what a lovely package to be sent, a hat (or two), t-shirt, Glencairn, soap and goodies as well as the whiskey samples was such a fab treat – thank you!!
The Whiskies
Whiskey no.1 – Writers Tears Double Oak – 46% abv
The nose was fresh and lightly floral… lovely vanilla and cinnamon, with a lovely sweetness coming through… its palate was lovely and warming… cinnamon and vanilla sits nicely against spicy oak flavours.
Whiskey no.2 – The Irishman 12 Year Old Single Malt – 43% abv
Sweet and fruity… a little honey and really quite fragrant. A gentle nose on this one. The palate delivered honey and wisps of vanilla. Caramel and warming spices… black tea.
Whiskey no.3 – The Irishman Single Malt Marsala Cask Finish (Dublin Airport exclusive) – 46% abv
A lovely caramel, vanilla.. sweet, red berries, a little “fizzy” note initially. The taste, apple and berries again… cinnamon and spices. Slightly drying.
Whiskey no.4 – Writers Tears Cask Strength 2019 – 53% abv
Oh I do love a cask strength whisk(e)y… cinnamon and lightly fruity. A little buttery pastry.
Oh I do love a good mouthful… woody spice, warming spices, mocha type bitterness. A little apple. A little nutty…
Thanks…
This was a tasting with some easy sipping whiskies, a nice lightness and softness to them. Thanks to Steve – The Whisky Wire and Walsh Whiskey for allowing me to be part of this tasting!
