Glen Moray 18 – Single Malt

A few weeks ago I received a lovely sample of the Glen Moray 18 year old single malt whisky (47.2%) from the Distiller’s lovely wife.

I’m sure most of you are familiar with Glen Moray? I guess it can be described as one of my “locals”… Lucky me.

From their website:

“Located in the heart of Speyside, Scotland’s whisky capital, the Glen Moray distillery has been producing fine single malt since 1897.

Through the boom times of late 19th Century and enduring two World Wars, the consistency and care taken to produce our spirit has ensured GLEN MORAY has always remained one of the most highly-regarded Speyside single malts”.

This whisky has a lovely warm golden colour.

It’s nose is fresh and inviting, with hints of sherry, a sweet buttery fudge and some honey with a very gentle spiciness…it gives you a sense that it is going to be good.

The palate delivers oak and stewed fruits, vanilla idles by whilst a certain richness of fruit and again a soft spice dances on your tastebuds.

It gives a lovely long and ever so delightfully reassuring finish.

This has reminded me, I really need to go back and see them. Thanks for the sample – it was delicious…

Slàinte!
