Tonight I sampled the English malt whisky from That Boutique-y Whisky Company. This is a 5 year old (batch 1) and has an abv of 49.5%. This whisky is a marriage of three casks and was distilled at St.George’s Distillery in Norfolk.
A personal note of thanks to the dragon slayer for giving me this sample.
The whisky has a lovely golden hue.
Nose: lemon greets you some caramel. Soft vanilla comes through, with wisps of smoke. There’s also a hint of fresh cucumber and some shortbread biscuits.
Palate: warm and peated. You get some wood and stewed apples. I added a drop of water to see if that would open it up. This brought a taste of apple pie. A lovely feeling.
Finish: lovely and that hint of peat leaves you wanting just a little bit more.
