Tonight I tried a sample of Clynelish 15 year old (batch 3) with an abv of 49.3% – from That Boutique-y Whisky Company.
The colour is very straw like, very light.
Nose: Fresh earth was there initially with hints of fresh orange and vanilla, then tart green apples and wax. This is accompanied by cocoa / milk chocolate. All the while you get that oak. And there are peppery spices too.
Palate was an initial hit of saccharine, along with a wisp of smoke and tart spices and again the oak is lingering there with orange and some sherbet with it warming the palate.
I found it quite a tart finish and the woody oak remains a bit of orange and peppery again warms the mouth.
